UPDATE – Metrolink directors have approved a 7 percent fare hike effective July 1.
The increase — which will cost an additional $20 for a monthly pass — is the largest in the agency’s history and is expected to raise roughly $4.5 million. The hike was necessary, according to Metrolink, due to increased labor costs, passenger transfer fees and higher diesel fuel costs,.

San Bernardino, CA – A public hearing will be held in San Bernardino on May 29, to discuss a proposal by Metrolink to raise fares as much as 9 percent.

The public hearing — scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. — will be conducted at the City of San Bernardino Council Chambers at 300 North D Street in San Bernardino. Other hearings will be held in Santa Ana, Palmdale, Oxnard and Los Angeles. Visit METROLINK online for dates and times of those sessions.
All public meetings will begin with a 20-minute informational presentation.
THE RATE PROPOSAL
The system-wide increase in Metrolink fees would be a start in addressing the transportation agency’s $13 million funding gap in the 2012-13 budget, according to a media release issued by Metrolink.
The rate hike would become effecting Sunday, July 1, once approved by the Metrolink Board of Directors.
